How to enable a May 2007 solution

1. Copy the following assemblies from the Lib folder of the SCSF installation directory (%programfiles%\Microsoft Smart Client Factory April 2008\Lib\) to the Lib folder of your solution:
  • Microsoft.Practices.CompositeUI.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.CompositeUI.WinForms.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.CompositeUI.WPF.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibary.Common.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibary.Data.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibary.ExceptionHandling.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibary.ExceptionHandling.Logging.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibary.Logging.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.ObjectBuilder.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.SmartClient.ConnectionMonitor.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.SmartClient.DisconnectedAgent.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.SmartClient.EndpointCatalog.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.SmartClient.EnterpriseLibrary.dll
  • Microsoft.Practices.SmartClient.EnterpriseLibrary.Data.SqlCe.dll
2. Open the solution in Visual Studio.
3. Click Finish in the Visual Studio Conversion Wizard.
4. If you have the May 2007 guidance package enabled in the solution, a dialog box appears that asks if you want to remove it. Click Yes to remove it.

Note: SCSF April 2008 uses by default .NET Framework 3.5 as the Target Framework in all its projects. If you want to migrate your projects in your upgraded solution to .NET Framework 3.5, right-click in a project and select Properties. In the Target Framework combo box of the Application tab select .NET Framework 3.5. Save changes.

5. On the Tools menu, click Guidance Package Manager. The Guidance Package Manager window will appear.
6. Click Enable / Disable Packages.
7. From the list of packages, select Smart Client Development – April 2008, and then click OK. The Guidance Package Manager will enable the guidance package.
8. Click Close to close the Guidance Package Manager.
