Commented Issue: Add View (With Presenter) issue [30411]

The Add View(With Presenter ) used to work for me(till last week). Now when I open the Add View window the Solution Preview is empty and the 'Next' and 'Finish' buttons are disabled. When I try to enter the view name the window closes without throwing any exception. There is no event in the event log.
 We are completely stuck.
 
Also If I try to create a new project, the preview and buttons are disabled. And If I try to enter a name for the namespace the window closes without any alert or exception.
 
My Env : Windows 7 ultimate , Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate, SCSF 2010

I've been advised of a workaround (which I have confirmed) by some of my colleagues:

1. Close your current solution
2. Uninstall SCSF 2010, restart VS2010
3. Uninstall Guidance Automation Extensions (GAX 2010)
4. Close VS2010
5. Reboot
6. Install GAX 2012
7. Install SCSF2010
8. Enjoy

Please follow the steps precisely, as failure to uninstall GAX2010 will likely result in disappointment.

I am experiencing a random issue with the SCSF 2010 guidance package when I try to add a View with Presenter in my VS2010 project. This also happens when I try to add a Business module as well.

The issue seems to happen randomly because the same exact solution opened in two different locations, one will let me add views and the other one will throw the exception. Its really mind boggling.

I have to check out an earlier version of my solution (which i know will let me add views) and create everything and import it into the most current version.

It seems to be related to this WCSF issue but I had no luck with the solutions proposed here.

Deleting the gpState and re-enabling SCSF did not help.

This is the error:

This happens intermittently in our project, I've found that getting the latest files for all projects in the solution normally resolves it. Not sure why it happens though.

Our application is using SCSF 2010 and runs on XP and above OS. If we have the application open and run Office Communicator (2007 R2) Share Desktop, as soon as we stop desktop sharing, all Views get reloaded.

To reproduce:
- Use Visual Studio to set a breakpoint on View's Load.
- Run SCSF application and Share Desktop using MS Office Communicator
- Stop desktop sharing
- Breakpoint will hit on the view.

Despite of calling Dispose() on View,it fails to dispose view object.So if I opened same view again a new view object created but old object resides in memory as it is. This accumulate memory and increase the memory size of application.

Commented Issue: Add View with Presenter Item not enabled if you rename the Infrastructure.Interface project output [11035]

The cause we found (June 2006 version) was that we renamed the output assembly for our Infrastructure.Interface project. Not the project, but the output assembly. It's 100% reproducible. Name the output of the assembly to something other than Infrastructure.Interface (we prefix the assembly with the application name) and the menu item is gone. Name it back, it reappears and runs correctly.

The section seems to be removed from the SLN file:
GlobalSection(ExtensibilityGlobals) = postSolution
ShellProjectGuid = "insert the guid of your shell project"
CommonProjectGuid = "insert the guid of your Infrastructure.Interface project"
RootNamespace = "insert your Root namespace"
EndGlobalSection

To resolve such problems, we should take care of the naming of the output DLLs of the infrastructure projects. To see the details, please take care of the following:
When creating a new SCSF project, the "solution recipe" does a great job creating the basis, but there's a few things you need to know/adjust. Since creating SCSF solutions/projects isn't an activity we do on a day-to-day basis, we tend to forget these quirks.

The name you give your "solution" will be used in the assembly name (the output dll) and the namespace of the projects. So the Infrastructure.Interface will have an assembly name "MySolution.Infrastructure.Interface.dll", and the namespace will be MySolution.Infrastructure.Interface. The same will be for the MySolution.Infrastructure.Library, MySolution.Infrastructure.Module, MySolution.Infrastructure.Shell and MySolution.Infrastructure.Layout.

The problem is that the ProfileCatalog.xml is generated with assembly names without the "MySolution" prefix. So, starting the solution will return a "ModuleLoadException was unhandled" error.

Don't change the values from the ProfileCatalog.xml. Instead, change the AssemblyName to a dll name without the "MySolution" prefix, because...

When you later create a "business/fundation" project, the recipes like "Add View (with Presenter)" are expecting projects that reference the "Infrastructure.Interface.Dll" If there's a prefix like "MySolution.Infrastructure.Interface.dll" the recipe/package won't be enabled.

The 'Next' and 'Finish' buttons are disabled when I try to add business or foundation modules. The same happens when I try to create a new solution/project of type 'SmartClient Application' using C# or VB in VS 2010. I was only able to do it once on my machine.

I have the following configurations:

Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit
VS 2010 Premium, .Net Framework 4.0
Enterprise Library 5.0 Optional Update 1.
SCSF 2010
GAT 2010, GAX 2010.

I am having the same problem, I initially installed and worked with the WCSF (2010) and also stopped working after a while.

I have now reformatted machine, fresh install, VS 2010, Windows 7, SCSF 2010 and voila it worked for about a day. I am now having exactly the same problem. Has there been any resolution so far? This is extremely frustrating

Hi All, hope someone can help with this.

I am trying to create a disconnected service agent. I have rebuilt my machine in a vein hope of resolving this issue but this has not helped.

I have VS 2008 Professional installed. I have setup a simple web server. (code from Microsoft Mobile Development Handbook) I have installed the Smart Client Software Factory V2008 and confirmed I have all dependancies installed. However once I have setup my web reference, right click, click on Smart Client Factory, then on Create Disconnected Service Agent I get the below error? I also get the same error if I try and create a new project Guidance Package, Smart Client Development. These errors also appear for VB and C# code.

Output window created.

i dont know if you solve this problme or not yet.

i face a similar problem with the vs 2010 and i found a solution and may be it will help you and all the people whom face this problem, i can create anew smart clinet application with out any error, but when i open a specific solutiona and try to add a view , or a buisness module i got the smae error you mention above.
i try to open this solution on a different machines and it still the smae with the same error.
so i conclude that the problem is from the solution file it self , it was missing some libraries refereces in the gloabal section, and it should be like this :

If an EventTopicCommand is disabled, the associated event is fired even when the command is executed. This happens because on the overrided OnExecute method, the check for the Command Status is done in the base's OnExecute method, but if the status is disabled, the execution continues and the event is still fired. This can be seen in the following code:
