Hi,

Are there any recommendations for when to, and when not to, create custome services in SmartClientSoftwareFactory/CAB?

Hi Herbjörn, services are functionallity encapsulated in a class. Typical examples of services could be service agents (proxies), security services, context services, service to access a file.

CAB provides a way to register those classes in a workitem and retrieve them in any part of your application that has access to the workitem.

Take a look at the SCSF HandsOnLabs and this link http://www.cabpedia.com/index.php?title=Services for more info about services.

Let me know if this helps,

Hi Ezequiel,

Thanks for Your answer. What I had in mind is more of a generic rule of thumb. There are several ways to implement functionality in SCSF. And I guess what I'm interested in is a kind of pro/con list that compares Services and EventPublication so that it gets very clear when we can use either of them, when we must use one of them and when we are recommended to choose one of them.
