Is UAB 2.0 combatible with .Net 2.0 and will it work with Visual Basic 2005? I want to create an app that is capable of updating from a web/network server. Click Once is not an option since it does not install for all users.

I'm in the process of upgrading my vs2003 code to vs2005 (VB)
this is a project that uses UAB

in appStart.vb i get a warning:
_config = CType(ConfigurationSettings.GetConfig("appStart"), AppStartConfiguration)

Warning 1 'Public Shared Function GetConfig(sectionName As String) As Object' is obsolete: 'This method is obsolete, it has been replaced by System.Configuration!System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.GetSection' C:\Data\vb\Projects.net2005\Kassa.V25\AppStart\AppStart.vb 51 19 AppStart

when i type in system.configuration.
i won't get the configurationManager option....

i'm puzzled.

I am getting the same issue with the Configurationmanager.

It does not seem to be recognised as a part of the system.configuration namespace.

Can you check if you have a reference to system.configuration?
I think you have to add it, the upgrade process didn't seem to do that.

these are my first lines of the file AppStart.vb
Imports System
Imports System.Collections
Imports System.ComponentModel
Imports System.Configuration
Imports System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager
Imports System.Data
Imports System.Diagnostics
Imports System.Globalization
Imports System.Xml
Imports System.Reflection
Imports System.IO
Imports System.Threading
Imports System.Windows.Forms

' AppStart Class
' This is the main class for appstart.exe
Public NotInheritable Class AppStart

#Region "Constructors"

Shared Sub New()
' grab our config instance which we use to read app.config params, figure out
' WHERE our target app is and WHAT version
_config = CType(System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager.GetSection("appStart"), AppStartConfiguration)

End Sub 'New

My list of Imports is as below:

Imports System
Imports System.Configuration
Imports System.Diagnostics
Imports System.Globalization
Imports System.IO
Imports System.Threading
Imports System.Windows.Forms
Imports Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Updater

I have tried importing System.Configuration.ConfigurationManager directly. This raises a member not found error in the Error list. I have tried blank projects to no avail.

The obselete code still runs fine, but it will definitely cause problems moving foward.
