UserControls Not Visible in Toolbox

When a UserControl is created in a regular Windows Forms project, the control is visible in the VS Toolbox. The same control, when created in a SmartClient project, is not visible in the VS Toolbox. This is true whether the UserControl is created in Shell, Common or another module.

Does SmartClient alter any settings that prevents VS from finding the controls? The Options->Windows Forms Designer->AutoPopulateToolbox is still set to true.

Looks like when a project that contains User Controls is added to the Solution under a Solution Folder such as Source, the Toolbox does not find the controls. When the same project is added to the Solution in the 'root' level the Toolbox sees the User Controls.

Anyone hazard a guess as to why and what to do about it other than eliminate the Source folder?

Found this link http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=139643&SiteID=1

It seems to be bug in Visual Studio. Don't know if it is fixed right now.

Here is a workaround I used:

Drag the projects which have UserControls to just under the root solution. No physical directories change. Then you can see the UserControls in the toolbox. Of course, you can drag the projects back to under the Source directory at any time you want.

Small addition to previous tip, how it works for me...

After moving solution, close Visual Studio and open it again, only after this you will see controls on toolbox.
