.Net 2.0 provides two files to save settings - User settings and app settings. In addition the framework provides the IStatePersistenceService classes to save STATE as a third file.

Is it possible to unify the user settings and STATE persistence as they can together be considered user preferences? How can we do that in the Smart Client framework?

In general, please provide guidance of how the .Net 2.0 AppSettings Architecture and the Smart Client framework can be used together.

Also, there seems to be some incomplete work with respect to the Smart Client configuration as indicated in the "UIElementBuilder" class's "LoadFromConfig" method. It says:

/// <summary>
/// This is a temporary implementation that will be replaced with something
/// richer when we move it into the framework.
/// </summary>

Is there a plan to provide more flexible configuration loading mechanism in the framework?
