We are building out a shell project crated by the guidance template but have noticed that none of the functionality is there unless you are on the developer machine that initially created the template.

Has anyone noticed this kind of behaviour or does anyone have the various recipes working as they should even when the solution is under source control.. What have we missed?

The relationship between a guidance package and a solution is kept in the .suo file, which is something you should not check into source control.

If a user wishes to use a guidance package on a solution in source control, they need to:

1. Install GAX
2. Install the guidance package
3. Get the source code from the repository
4. Within Visual Studio:
a. Open the solution
b. Choose Tools > Guidance Package Manager
c. Click Enable/Disable Packages
d. Find your guidance package from the list and check it, then click OK
